EN | Art historian, feminist, writer. Not necessarily in that order, but always all three at once. Yasmin Van ’tveld (°1989) obtained an MA in Art History at Ghent University, and an MA Contemporary Art Theory at Goldsmiths, University of London. She has gained experience as an art historian, writer, and curator specialising in contemporary arts, having worked for institutions such as Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens and Axel Vervoordt Gallery.

From 2016 until 2025, she was curator and editor at Kluger Hans, a literary magazine for emerging writers known for its appreciation of visual art and graphic design. Her appointment of editor-in-chief at Kluger Hans in 2018 deepened her editorial vision for the publication. In May 2025, she decided it was time to pass the torch.

In 2018, she began working independently, focusing on the critical and editorial work that sits between art practice and its articulation. She writes exhibition texts and interviews, curates, edits books on art and culture, and helps artists, writers, and organisations refine how they present their ideas.

Guest lecturer in Writing and Editing at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp for Woordkunst (‘Creative Writing’) students since 2024.

From 2022 to 2023, she pursued further studies in literary translation from English to Dutch. She has also been the communications manager of the art collective playField. since 2021, of Folio vzw since 2022, and of aifoon since 2024.

Alongside her freelancing work, Yasmin Van ’tveld is a board member of the literary organisation VONK & Zonen (2023-now). She has been a juror for spoken word platform Dans! Dichter! Dans! (2022-now) and several other literary juries. Since 2019, she has participated in the Literary Organisers Network (OLO). She has been a member of the feminist collective Hyster-x since 2022.

Daarna legde ze een parcours af als kunsthistoricus, curator en schrijver binnen de hedendaagse kunsten, waaronder voor Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens en Axel Vervoordt Gallery.

Sinds 2018 is ze fulltime freelance schrijver, literair redacteur, journalist en curator. Daarnaast werd ze in 2016 curator en redacteur proza bij Kluger Hans. In 2018 volgde haar aanstelling als hoofdredacteur van dit literaire tijdschrift met een hart voor beeldende kunst en vormgeving; in mei 2025 besloot ze het stokje door te geven. In 2022-2023 volgde ze nog een opleiding literair vertalen Engels-Nederlands. Sinds 2024 geeft ze gastlessen Schrijven en Redactie aan de studenten Woordkunst van het Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen.

Naast haar freelancewerk is Yasmin van ’tveld bestuurslid van literair productiehuis VONK & Zonen (2023-nu) en jurylid voor o.a. het spokenwordplatform Dans! Dichter! Dans! (2022-nu). Sinds 2019 zit ze in de vergadering van Overleg Literaire Organisatoren (OLO) en sinds 2022 is ze actief lid van Hyster-x, het feministische collectief voor vrouwelijke en non-binaire makers.

that my first “publication” dates back to 1999? (I was almost ten years old at the time.) It was a short story about a rabbit, and it appeared in Het vliegende kind (“The Flying Child”), a collection of stories by children who won a competition held among several schools, judged by Karel Verleyen.
